Relocating To North Virginia
Northern Virginia is a region of Virginia located in the United States which includes the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William with the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park. Together with Washington D.C. and parts of Maryland and West Virginia, it makes up the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area, the fourth largest metropolitan area in the country.
Northern Virginia as a whole is the most ethnically diverse and wealthiest part of Virginia. It also contains three of the ten highest income counties in the United States. If you are relocating to Northern Virginia, you most likely will be looking for a luxury home. Northern Virginia is one of the most affluent areas in the US and finding the luxury real estate you are looking for should be a breeze.
In today's real estate market, even with everything available in Northern Virginia, timing can be everything, even when getting home insurance. Some homes are bought before they are ever even advertised and are barely on the market. The first step would be to find a reputable real estate agent and explain, in detail, what you are looking for in a luxury home. If your agent is clear on what you want and you have communicated your desires in a home, price range and location, you could be one of the lucky people who will snatch up a prime property before anyone else has a chance to look at it! Just driving around town or in the area you are looking at and writing down the phone number for various real estate companies may just be the way to lose out on the luxury home that catches your eye. Get yourself established with a realtor, look at current listings with your agent and go from there. You may see a lot of properties that aren't quite suited to you, but if you take your time and stick to your guns on what you want, the right home will eventually present itself.

Much of Northern Virginia's luxury real estate is located overlooking the Potomac River, just as George Washington did over 200 years ago. There are many old plantations that have been renovated to accommodate modern living, yet retain that old plantation look. Some are brand new mansions containing every amenity you can think of. Others are newer homes built for single families with all the amenities plus a guest house for family and friends when they come to visit. There is a wide variety of homes to choose from. It all depends on your taste in houses and what you feel you need from a home. All that's left to do is get out there and look!
